This GBM was one of my favorites so far! The speaker was genuine, relatable, and incredibly engaging. She made me deeply think about my values and interests and how to align them with what I want to do with my future. Her story and strength are incredibly inspiring. I learned an unexpected amount about the differences between diversity and inclusion and the importance of being unwilling to compromise when it comes to a rejection of my values. She inspired us all to become disrupters in order to continue to make steps towards inclusion in the workplace. This was a great GBM because of it’s inclusion of the importance of both following your passions career-wise but also prioritizing the importance of…
I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Gretchen Bellamy speak at the March GBM. It was truly refreshing to listen to someone speak who hasn’t had a conventional career path; she assured the audience that what is most important is sticking to your morals, ethical beliefs, and underlying values. As someone who has struggled to figure out what job field I want to enter, I found Gretchen’s advice to be extremely helpful. She emphasized how important it is to 1) stand your ground and 2) follow your passions and heart in where it guides you. There truly are many paths one can take to be successful, and as Gretchen mentioned, “get off the merry-go-round” in life and delve deep into what you truly…
In my opinion, Gretchen Bellamy was one of the most compelling and refreshing GBM speakers yet! Her extremely impressive journey to where she is today was inspiring to say the least. Her strong commitment to her values and priorities is admirable and something that I want to stick to in the future. Her love and care for her son and the demands that she gave to be there for him when looking for a job definitely supported her final message of demanding what you really care about in negotiations. Not only that, but her response to her boss making a comment about her son's hair was firm and stern, and she had no qualms or regard to the consequences after…
I very much enjoyed hearing Gretchen Bellamy speak at the March General Body Meeting. I thought she was a very effective speaker because she talked a lot about maintaining one’s own identity in the workplace. I think that, as women interested in business, there is an immense pressure to conform and fit into the male-dominated world of business. I like how Gretchen encouraged us to challenge that idea and expectation. She very much pushed the notion that being oneself, and even dressing with personal style, will make a person stand out for their uniqueness in the workplace. She was adamant that individual identity is what matters and that conforming to norms, even something as simple as a strict dress code,…
Hearing Ms. Gretchen Bellamy speak at our March GBM was such a rewarding experience. She was confident and determined, and I very much appreciated how much she advocated for herself in jobs. She does what is best for her and she follows her morals, never giving up on the things she believes in. I love how she has worked in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for most of her life and it is clear she has spent her life fighting for what is right even when it isn't easy to accomplish. Gretchen has had many different job positions throughout her life, but I loved her perspective on how important it is to find what is right for you and that there…
